Downtown Miami Lights Up In Red for Red Cross Month

In honor of Red Cross Month, buildings across Downtown Miami and the Brickell area lit up in hues of vibrant red in support of the American Red Cross this March. The Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter coordinated the initiative with participating buildings including:

  • InterContinental Miami
  • Freedom Tower
  • Miami-Dade County Courthouse
  • Southeast Financial Center
  • Brickell World Plaza
  • SLS Lux Brickell
  • 50 Biscayne
  • One Biscayne Tower

By lighting up in red, these buildings show tribute to the Red Cross and show support of its mission in the community.

“We are grateful to have the community support during Red Cross Month and show tribute to our life-saving mission of alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies,” said Deborah Koch, executive director of the Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter.

Red Cross Giving Day is another great way for the community to show their support this month and we encourage all our supporters to help one family on March 26.

During Red Cross Month, volunteers are recognized and honored for providing hope and urgent relief to families in need in the face of life’s emergencies. They [volunteers] are the true heroes of the Red Cross, comprising 90 percent of the workforce.

More than 75 years ago, March was first proclaimed Red Cross Month in 1943 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to raise awareness of the organization and its humanitarian mission. Today, we continue to celebrate this month by asking everyone to be a hero for families in need.

You can also show your support and #help1family by making a financial gift.
