Red Light Camera Nightmare is GONE

City of Miami Commissioner for District 4 Manolo Reyes co-sponsored a resolution directing the City Manager to terminate the contract with the red light camera operators in the City of Miami, American Traffic Solutions.

“These red-light cameras are essentially another tax, one that the residents of my district cannot afford,” said Commissioner Reyes. “I thank my colleagues and Mayor Francis Suarez for their support.”

City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, Commission Vice Chair Ken Russell and Commissioner Wifredo (Willy)  Gort also co-sponsored the resolution. The resolution was unanimously approved by the City of Miami Commission on December 14, 2017.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TERMINATE THE CITY OF MIAMI’S (“THE CITY”) AGREEMENT WITH AMERICAN TRAFFIC SOLUTIONS, INC., TO FURNISH, INSTALL, OPERATE, AND MAINTAIN THE CITY’S TRAFFIC INFRACTION DETECTOR PROGRAM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO TAKE ALL NECESSARY STEPS TO IMPLEMENT THE TERMS FOR TERMINATION OF THE AGREEMENT FOR CONVENIENCE; AND FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE ADMINISTRATION TO ALLOCATE THE APPROPRIATE RESOURCES TO ADDRESS ANY BUDGETARY CONSTRAINTS RESULTING FROM THE TERMINATION OF THE PROGRAM.
